How do you create the watersoundimages?

What´s needed for creating the images?

- shallow round bowl - black painted

- speaker

- audio-amp

- frequency generator (software does as well - free software you get in the internet)

- source of light

- camera

Take the bowl an some silicon-glue and glue it on the membran of the speaker. Check that it´s really leveled.

Fill the bowl with a little water. How much water depends on the size of the bowl - so you have to try.

Plug the speaker to the amp and send a signal with the frequency generator through the amp to the speaker.

check loudness and find a frequency (between 20-80 Hz is the easiest) where the water comes in resonance.

The camera and the source of light have to be directly above the bowl - so the light reflects the tops of the occuring waves.

That´s it. But it needs a lot of fine tuning to find the correct adjustments. If one factor is not right you won´t get a good image.

On this website you find a good description of how to build up the setting  www.cymatics.org

Have fun trying!
